Tennis club’s tribute to Mary

Spalding Tennis Club has served up a tribute to one of its aces.

A bench has been unveiled to commemorate the life of Mary Burgess.
She died aged 87 in August having been a well known and successful competitor in a host of sports including hockey, cricket and table tennis.
She played and was secretary of Spalding Tennis Club for 40 years.
To mark her service, the club has put up a bench in her honour at its Holyrood Walk courts.
A spokesman for the club, said: “Mary’s husband Roy shared many great memories of Mary’s time at the club with members.”
