Consti A see off reigning champions

Consti A took on reigning Spalding League champions Drayman’s A and emerged 6-3 victors.

Sam Roberts beat Josh Grainger to seal the match with other singles win coming from Nick Moyses, Chris Fidler and Jason Vines. Kev Newton and Richard Cooper got the singles wins for Drayman’s.
In the pairs, Chris Fidler had back-to-back 180s when partnering with Moyse, which ended up in a 14-dart leg.
Tigers C beat Consti E 7-2 with wins for Simon Hill, Mark Horspool, Ant Richardson and Duncan Hunt, along with all three pairs victories. Singles wins for Consti E came from Craig Woods and Paul Merrill. Duncan Hunt had an 18-dart leg.
Lincoln A beat Punchbowl A 6-3, after both teams had been promoted from Division Two. Wins came from Luke Rhodes, Steve Gaughan, Karl Rolfe and Dave Bourne, Rhodes also fired in a 180.
In Division Two, Mail Cart A beat newly promoted Ship 7-2. Zach Chapman was the solitary singles winner for the Ship, beating Steve Rawding 2-0. For the Mail Cart Paul Faulkner hit an 18-dart leg and Stu Page went one better in his victory over Brad Martin.
Ye Olde Abbey had a 7-2 win against Tigers B thanks to singles wins from Dave Norbury, Scott Lawrence, Craig Norbury, Dean Parker and Stan Browning. Scott Lawrence hit a 180 and Dave Norbury had two 18-dart legs. Norbury and Browning had a 17-dart leg in the pairs.
There was a much closer game between Green Dragon A and Drayman’s B. After going 2-1 up in the pairs, Tim Hester won to make it 3-1 for the Dragon but then wins for Shane Thorpe, Connor Hughes and Michael Harrison made the score 4-3 to the Drayman’s. Former county player Jamie Robson levelled the game at 4-4 but Dan Merrill held his nerve and beat Sean Trafford 2-1 to take the match 5-4 for the Drayman’s.
In Division Three, Lincoln B had a 7-2 win against Punchbowl B. They went 3-0 up in the pairs and singles wins for Ian Tilley, Mark McKay, Nigel Goodwin and Lesley Chamberlain secured victory.
Royal Mail Cart B also had a 7-2 victory against newly formed Green Dragon B. Singles wins came from Kieran Twitchen, Carl Kirk, Jonny Pell, Steve Taylor and Andy Taylor. Taylor had a maximum 180. Ben Laud was the sole winner for Green Dragon B.
Holbeach Services beat Consti D 5-4 with a win for Dan Blakey over Ady Smith, scoring a 180 in the process. Other singles wins for HUSC came from Chris Chamberlain and Stu Stephens.
