Gosberton and Consti B lead way

Consti B and Gosberton are the early leaders in the Spalding & District Billiards League after rattling off their second win of the campaign.

Both recorded 5-2 successes, with Consti’s coming on the road at Bourne, where they fell behind to Lester Gaunt (o20), who fired breaks of 22 and 23 against Mick Johnson (o150). He responded with breaks of 20 and 29.
Jason Bloomfield (r70) made it all square before Neil Burton (r60) saw off Jason Bates, who struck breaks of 20 and 46 in the 500-389 success.
Gosberton eased past Donington, despite losing the opening frame to Tony Scully (r40), who hit breaks of 22 and 31.
Shane White (o40) levelled things and Marcus Pell (o40) completed the comeback to secure the 558-531 aggregate bonus point.
Monday’s other match saw Holbeach B shoot up to third place with their first win of the season, inflicting a second straight defeat on Pyramid B, again 5-2.
Andy Spearman (r90) and Denis Hix (r70) ensured a home victory before Darrel Read (r30) hit back with breaks of 38 and 32 in his win for the Pyramid side.
Results: Bourne SC 2 Consti B 5, Gosberton 5 Donington 2, Holbeach B 5 Pyramid B 2, Pyramid A v Holbeach A – postponed, Consti A – bye.
