LETTER: Thanks for allowing reminiscing

The recent Heritage Open days in the County were as usual a great success with many unusual and interesting places opening over this two week period.
I was particularly pleased to visit Welland Hall, Spalding, where I spent several years of my youth when it was the ‘old’ High School and many other ‘old girls’ also went along.
The current owners of Ayscoughfee Hall School opened their doors as part of this National Heritage initiative for the first time this year and welcomed many visitors.
About 100 people attended and enjoyed a tour of the school and delicious coffee and cake in the school hall (formerly the site of where we all ate our school dinners in some very old huts).
It was a marvellous day with people coming from far and wide to view the amazing facilities on offer to the pupils and to see our old classrooms transformed with many modern facilities yet retaining the charm and grace of this wonderful old building.
An enormous thank you to the staff and governors of Ayscoughfee Hall School for allowing us in to roam and reminisce.
