LETTERS – Democracy is beginning to fail

Free speech is being threatened! Am I being alarmist? No! The Labour government has already shown its teeth and wishes to “cancel” people it disagrees with.
The Conservatives were thrown out for “lying” to the public about immigration policies. The same will happen with Labour.
The recent protests were mostly from people fed up with the levels of immigration. Net migration stands at 700,000. Kier Starmer calls it “far right thuggery” making the situation worse. He threatens the “full force of the law” on first time offenders. Surely, it would be better if those individuals were made to do community service?
In contrast, in my opinion, policing is lax in regard to the Islamic population.
Two tier policing, Prime Minister?
A clamp down on social media for people agreeing with Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson will happen.
In Mr Farage’s case he asked about a Southport suspect being on an MI5 terrorist watchlist. In some quarters, they threaten him with arrest. His Facebook accounts could be suspended. The Prime Minister looks at revisiting the social media laws under the guise of “no one should be offended”.
In Kier Starmer’s world, five year olds will be trained to spot extremism. He has bent the knee with some footballers to Black Lives Matter, a Marxist organisation.
This government has already punished pensioners by scrapping the winter fuel allowance. No doubt, some of this will be spent on illegal migrants’ welfare.
Democracy is beginning to fail. In the election, the biggest party – no party – got 40 per cent of the vote. Labour only got 34 per cent of the vote.
People need to wake up now and get involved in politics, of whatever hue! That is the sole purpose of this letter.
The country is beginning to fundamentally change its values where people do not know their neighbours.
