Tributes for ‘dedicated’ GP

Tributes have been paid to a South Holland GP who died last week.

Dr Janarthanam Babu (60) was a partner at the Beechfield Medical Centre and died on May 13 after a short illness.

“Dr Babu was not only a valued member of our team, but also a compassionate and dedicated doctor who touched the lives of many patients and colleagues alike throughout his career. His loss is felt deeply across our practice and the wider community,” said an online statement from the centre.

The practice will be closed on May 28 to allow the team to attend his funeral.

Patients and friends are welcome to join them at Beechfield Medical Centre at 9.45am and the cortege will arrive around 10am before heading to the South Lincolnshire Crematorium.

There is a book of condolence available at the centre along with an online tribute page under his name.

Tributes were paid by patients, former patients, colleagues and staff at the centre.

“A really special person who cherished his family but also shared his kindness and compassion with staff. We will miss you so much,” said one. “It has been an absolute privilege to work to work for you for the past eight years. You kindness and support is something I will never forget,” said another.

The surgery is due to re-open after the funeral at 8am on Thursday, May 29.
