Speed limit to be reduced in village

The road that passes through Shepeau Stow looks set to be made a 30mph limit.

Lincolnshire County Council’s Planning and Regulation Committee voted to lower the limit on the B1166 Drove Road from 40mph at its meeting on Monday.
Following a request from local residents, surveys by the council found the average speed on the road was 35mph.
That renders it a ‘border line’ case for speeding measures for the authority but councillors passed the application unanimously.
Coun Nigel Pepper said: “There’s been this request for a speed limit due to the fairly linear build up of houses on both sides of the road.
“There’s presently an unenforceable voluntary speed limit on the road and has been for a while.
“Local hauliers have agreed to not go down there above 30mph.
“The Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership’s speed cameras regularly visit this location and local volunteers operate Speedwatch.
“What seals the reduction for me is the proximity to the primary school and we all know what traffic is like at school times.
“There’s also no footpaths, apart from just in front of the school.”
