Tourism centre and relocation of caravan and camping business in Crowland granted planning permission

A plan for a tourism centre to be established in Crowland has been granted planning permission.

The proposal, by Ruthkay Ltd, is for an existing poultry farm at Carrington Drove to be used. Crowland Caravans and Camping would relocate to the site from Wyevale Garden Centre in nearby Postland Road.
A similar plan was given planning consent in 2011, but permission lapsed when the work did not start.
No detail on the tourism centre is available at present. If the plan, goes ahead eight jobs are expected to be created.

Councillors went along with their officers’ recommendation and passed the application on Wednesday. It was only referred to them because planning committee member Coun Bryan Alcock is the father of Ruthkay employee Matthew Alcock and Bryan works for the firm.
Crowland Parish Council is also supportive, believing it to be an asset to the town, creating employment and tourism.
