Bourne SC A scoop billiards championship

Bourne SC A finished off their Spalding and District Billiards League championship campaign with a 4-3 win over Donington on Monday night.
Lester Gaunt (O10), who has also taken the trophy for most wins in a season with 13, beat Nigel Brasier (R60), while Gary Surridge (R80) got the better of Tony Scully (R40), to get the points for Bourne.
Ben Wrigglesworth (R10) was the only winner for Donington, beating Carl Gibson (R50) 200-155.
Breaks during the match came from Scully (32), Surridge (25, 21) and Gaunt (22, 22).
Consti A have finished in second place, just pipping Donington on games won.
Both teams ended the season on 75 points, but Consti have won 12 games to Donington’s 11.
Consti beat Donington 5-2 in their final match.
Jamie Mumby (R80) got Gosberton off to a good start with a win over John Bellerby (R70), knocking in a 39 break on his way to victory.
However Consti answered back thanks to Alan Hansard (R70) and Stewart Davies (R50) who beat Rob Lockett (R100) and Andy Shephard (R120) respectively to give Consti the win.
The final standings are not complete as two matches were cancelled on Monday night – Pyramid B v Holbeach B and Gosberton B v Consti B.
The matches will need to be played as soon as possible to allow the final table to be calculated.
The result of Holbeach A’s game against Pyramid was not known at the time of going to press as no score sheet had been received.
