Council has allocated all ‘Green’ funding

South Holland District Council will not be handing back any of its Green Homes funding a councillor has claimed.
It’s been reported in the national press that many authorities had struggled to spend their allocation from central government.
But Coun Tracey Carter deputy leader and portfolio holder for operational housing said SHDC had allocated all of its £2.8m it had been given.
“A number of councils are handing back hundreds of thousands,” she told a meeting of the council last week.
“Our budget was £2.8m but we’ve been doing work such as loft installations, solar panels, window replacements and wall insulations to bring up there energy ratings and lowering tenants cost of bills.
“We’re on track to spend every single penny.”
Meanwhile Coun Carter said house inspections, were ‘generally of a good standard’ when asked about a tenant’s ceiling falling in as previously reported by The Voice.
In response to Coun Sophie Hutchinson, Coun Carter said: “I can’t say every time it’s perfect, but with regards to that gentleman we worked hard to move him.
“A number of works have been carried out. If anyone has issues they should contact myself.”
