Towns and villages across South Holland will fall silent this weekend to remember those that gave their lives for the country.
Armistice Day is Saturday (November 11) followed the next day by Remembrance Sunday.
There are three public services in Spalding.
* Firstly, Springfields will be holding its annual remembrance event on Friday.
A parade will take place from 10.30am at the top of the mall and head to the Peace Garden for 10.55am.
*The following day, the war graves will be commemorated at Spalding Cemetery. Muster in the car park at 10.55am.
* The annual parade through Spalding will take place on Remembrance Sunday with everyone to muster in the Market Place at 10.30am.
There will then be a march to the war memorial in Ayscoughfee Gardens.
* It’s all change in Holbeach where the parish council-organised event will take place in the morning.
Attendees should muster at the Co-op for 10.15am before the march to the memorial at 10.30am. A church service will follow at 11.05am.
* In Fleet, Harold Payne is putting on an Uncle Sam’s Remembrance Event with any veterans invited to attend. It starts with a petal drop at the Anglia Motel at 11.30am. There will also be live American GI-themed music. Tickets are £15.
* Long Sutton’s Remembrance Parade will start at the British Legion at 2.15pm.
After the walk to the war memorial there will be a church service.
* On Sunday, November 12, Pinchbeck will have a parade from the village hall on Bear Lane at 10am, down to St Mary’s Church were there will be a service at 10.30am.
The laying of the wreaths will take place at the memorial across the road at 11am.
* Donington’s Remembrance Service is in the church starting at 10.30am.
* Deeping St Nicolas Parish Church will also be hosting its service for the village at 10.30am.
* Weston Hills will be host a special remembrance service outside the church from 2.45pm.
* Gosberton’s church service is 11am on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a service at Risegate at noon (Sunday).
