A Spalding teenager is appearing on advertising billboards across the country to promote National Citizen Service (NCS).

Ellie Harrison was invited to take part in the campaign, entitled Our Future, as a result of her transformation in confidence following a social action project on the NCS programme. She helped residents and staff at care home Southfields House in Woolram Wygate, Spalding.

Ellie, an 18-year-old Spalding High School student, is one of more than 130,000 teens to have taken part in NCS since the programme launched in 2011.

She said: “I had such a great experience on NCS and I hope by being part of this campaign, I can raise awareness of the programme and inspire other teens to say ‘yes’ to it, too.

“NCS has opened up so many new doors for me. Since taking part, I’ve gone on to become a digital champion in partnership with the Mozilla foundation, attended SKY Media careers sessions and a youth media conference, as well as taking part in Teen Voice and joining Team V to carry on my social action project.”

The Our Future campaign represents the belief that the emerging generation is one that wants to do the right thing, but needs the right tools, opportunities and respect that comes from programmes like NCS.
