Rugby players take to the golf course

Spalding Rugby Club’s Annual Golf Day at Spalding Golf Club saw 70 competitors taking part.

The competition was a pairs betterball format and with the course in splendid condition there was some entertaining golf with outstandingly high scores coming in.
Before the golfers set off there was the President’s putting competition, won by Kavan Williamson.
The winners of the competition as a whole, with a stunning pairs score of 54 points, were Andrew Stone and Paddy Wheeler, who were presented with the Brian Saville Cup by Stewart Barnett, director of Pecks, the main sponsors, alongside Spalding Rugby Club president George Sly.
The runners up were Tom Deurden and Michael Beeken with a score of 52 points.
The Mixed Pairs winners were Neil Wilkinson and Linda Prue with a score of 50 points.
