A Holbeach nursing home broke out the best china and bunting to celebrate a special occasion with a 1940s day.
It is 25 years since the community rallied round to open Holbeach Hospital as a nursing home and a celebration saw residents, staff, family and friends get together to enjoy a day of themed fun, including a street party, tanks, rifles, 1940s costumes and old pictures of the town.
The party tent, which was decked out as a vintage tea room – complete with proper china and fancy tablecloths – even served up Spam sandwiches to bring that authentic flavour to proceedings.
The highlight of the event was a flypast by a Spitfire.
Deputy manager Maxine Winch said: “It was a real celebration and was a really enjoyable day, but it also raised almost £700.”
