Olympian sprints into school

Britain’s third fastest athlete ever joined Spalding Parish Day School pupils recently.

James Dasalou’s run of 9.91secs in the 100m in 2013 was the second quickest ever behind Linford Christie until Zharnell Hughes broke the country’s record last week with a run of 9.83secs.
The 2012 Olympian popped into the school partly after it had raised £1,380 to support future athletes.
He gave a lecture on this background while showing the children a video of his quickest run and is many medals.
James then held fitness challenges and went round each class to thank the children and award prizes for the fundraising efforts towards other sports people.
A spokesman for the school said: “It was a special and exciting day.
“The atmosphere was electrifying in the hall as he gave his presentation and the children were truly inspired by him.
“Each year group rose brilliantly to the fitness challenges while supporting and encouraging each other.
“Everyone had a brilliant time and it really supported our big curriculum question ‘how can we make a difference?’
“Thank you to every in our community who supported out children and made it an event they will never forget.
