Earth digs in for a final repeat

Moulton Harrox are heading back to Boston United’s Jakemans Community Stadium with revenge on their mind.

A thrilling 3-2 win over Lincolnshire League side Grimsby Borough Reserves on Saturday earned the Dor-Jan Peterborough League Premier Division team the chance to avenge last season’s 7-0 Lincolnshire County FA Junior Cup final defeat against Wyberton.
However, they made hard work of it, conceding a 2-0 lead before securing a semi-final victory when Dec Earth converted an extra-time penalty at Broad Lane.
Earth’s shot was turned in by Louis Steadman for the opening goal after 30 minutes and the same combination doubled the home advantage ten minutes into the second half. Borough hit back with a swift response from Mitch Dunn to lift their hopes and they forced extra-time with an equaliser after 73 minutes from Fraser Parrott.
The match was won four minutes before
half-time in the extra period when substitute Alfie Woodward was fouled and Earth struck.
The final is on Friday, March 24, against Wyberton, who won their last-four tie 2-1 against Tetney Rovers.
Harrox: Taylor, Maguire (Nottingham), Gardner, Gilbert, Coddington, King (England), Kisla, Chappell, Steadman, Earth, Bradbury (Woodward). Subs (not used): Ball, Thorold.
q A tragic death overshadowed the Dor-Jan Peterborough and District League programme. Michael Palmer collapsed and died during Crowland Town Reserves’ Division Two match with Leverington Sports Reserves (see front page).
In the Premier Division, Holbeach United Reserves secured a 3-1 win at Deeping Rangers Reserves but Crowland Town’s first team went down to a 4-1 defeat at their Leverington Sports counterparts.
Substitute Jordan Clow notched the consolation goal for Pinchbeck United Reserves in a 6-1 Division One defeat at Farcet United.
Better news for Holbeach United Sports, however, who stayed in the promotion hunt with a 7-2 win against Stilton United Reserves thanks to a hat-trick from Brad Appleby and further goals from Rowan Woodward, Ed Barnes, Cameron Lee and an opponent.
Tydd Reserves moved away from the foot of the Division Two table courtesy of a 3-2 victory against Oakham United Reserves.
Rob Hitchcock, Ben Mansour, Sam Moakes, Jordan Woods, Jamie Steward and Rhys Davies shared the goals in Whaplode Drove Rovers’ 6-1 demolition of Stamford Belvedere Reserves.
A brace from Calvin Bird and substitute Jack Thomas’ strike earned Long Sutton Athletic their first win of the season with a 3-2 success against Uppingham Town Reserves moving them out of bottom spot in Division Three.
Matt Eaton and Matt Wayman were on target for Sutton Bridge United but it proved to be in vain in a 4-2 defeat at home to Peterborough Rangers.
Whaplode Drove Reserves lost 2-0 at Park Farm Pumas A in Division Four.
Brandon Hall banged in a treble to secure a stunning 6-2 win for Jubilee against Spalding and District Sunday League leaders CSKA Emneth Reserves.
Robbie Relf also bagged a brace, with Liam Thirkell completing the six-hit for the league’s bottom-placed team.
However, there was nothing much to celebrate for Pointon in their clash with CSKA first team, who romped to a 7-2 success. Joe Davies and Luke Edwards did manage to find the way to the visitors’ net.
Substitute Kara Butler made an immediate impact for Lincolnshire
Co-op Girls’ County League U15 Division leaders Moulton Harrox.
She scored twice to add to a strike from Molli McCormack in a 3-0 win over Stamford Young Daniels, which made it nine wins out of nine so far this season for the County Cup semi-finalists.
Moulton Harrox lost 1-0 at home to Deeping Rangers in their County FA U18s Cup semi-final.
