A group at the forefront of transport issues for Spalding and Peterborough is hoping to gain new members to help organise a special conference next year.
Spalding and Peterborough Transport Forum holds its annual general meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at the South Holland District Council offices in Priory Road, starting at 7pm.
Over the last couple of years the group has lost its treasurer, secretary and transport consultant, due to people leaving the area, and it has been unable to fill the vacant roles.
Press officer Fiona Turner said: “This is not to say we have been idle though, still carrying on projects such as campaigning for the reopening of Littleworth Station at Deeping St Nicolas, and being involved with the refurbishment of Peterborough Station.
“We need an organisation in the area that can promote transport issues because as individuals we do not have the power to change lots of things but as you have seen in the past when we pull together we can accomplish many things.”
Members of the forum are hoping to see interested people at tonight’s meeting with the hope of getting some new recruits.
The AGM will concentrate on bringing all public groups in the area interested in transport issues together to stage a conference in 2015.
Fiona added: “This will provide strength for the community, keeping people informed of transport projects and allow them to work together towards a conference with key speakers from the transport industry.
“The AGM will also offer the opportunity for local people to voice their concerns over the crossing closures and the problems being experienced due to high volumes of traffic.”
