Handy idea to help Ukraine

A Spalding charity is appealing for your old mobiles and laptops to help those in Ukraine.

The Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland is teaming up with Mobiles 4 Ukraine for the project.

All South Holland residents have to do is to hand in their no longer wanted devices at JF Inkley Men’s Outfitters in Vine Street, Spalding, which is a collection point for the Rotary.

The devices will be processed, sorted and resold by Ukrainian mums who are currently unemployed as a result of Russia’s invasion of their country.

All the money raised from the recycling and onward sales of the devices will go to rebuild and refurbish damaged Ukrainian schools.

Rotary president Barry Elliott said: “Many of we more fortunate people in the UK are enjoying our new presents of mobile phones and tablets and have dropped the old ones in a drawer somewhere, not sure what to do with them at the moment.

“The Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland will be delighted to help with answering this question, no matter what brand and in what condition they may be.

“The club is teaming up with Mobiles 4 Ukraine to collect unwanted mobiles and tablets to make a difference to the ordinary folk of Ukraine in their continuing unimaginable plight as they still stand strong against both their invaders and the bitter winter season with all the associated energy problems that are being inflicted upon them.”
