A judge has issued an arrest warrant for a driver who failed to stop after hitting two pedestrians in Spalding town centre.
William Jones (29) was due to be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday after he admitted charges of dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.
Jones, of Washway Road, Fleet Hargate, was driving his BMW 120D car dangerously in New Road, Spalding, on May 1 when he struck the two pedestrians in the collision.
After hitting them, Jones drove off, the court was told previously.
His case had been adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence probation report after Jones pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing.
Neil Sands, defending Jones, confirmed there had been no contact from his client and he had no explanation for why Mr Jones had failed to attend court.
Mr Sands said: “It is strange as he attended his previous court appearance when an adjournment for a pre-sentence report was granted.”
The court heard one of the pedestrians injured in the collision had attended court to watch the sentence.
Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight issued a warrant for Jones’ arrest, not backed for bail.
“I am satisfied he was aware of this hearing,” Judge Sjolin Knight said.
