Holbeach pull off big cup shock

Holbeach United Reserves pulled off the result of the day in the PDFL on Saturday as they handed leaders FC Peterborough a 2-0 beating in the Senior Cup.
After winning 11 of their first 12 games of the season, the Premier Division table-toppers were hot favourites – but the Tigers sank them thanks to strikes from Jordan Keeble and Sam Carter at Carter’s Park.
In the same competition, Moulton Harrox are out after being thumped 4-1 at Warboys Town.
Louis Steadman got the solitary goal for Harrox.
Meanwhile, a hat-trick from Danny Firth helped Crowland Town claim a stunning 6-4 victory over high-flying Stilton United in the Premier Division.
In a ten-goal thriller at Snowden Field, Firth’s treble was aided by further strikes from Harry Grigas, Jordan Kirchin and Lawrence Stewart as Crowland sunk one of the league’s big-hitters.
Also in the top tier, a double from Bradley Easey wasn’t enough for Tydd as they went down 3-2 at Wittering Premiair.
In Division One, a first-half strike from Kelvin Ibeneme earned Holbeach United Sports a 1-1 draw against Farcet United.
Fellow second tier side Pinchbeck United Reserves were in Challenge Cup action as they slipped up 2-1 at home against Deeping United at Knight Street.
Down in Division Two, Whaplode Drove Rovers suffered a 4-2 loss at Glinton and Northborough, despite a double from Charlie Parkes.
Also defeated were Crowland Town Reserves, as goals from Steven Slack and Jamie Hunns couldn’t prevent a 3-2 beating at Wittering Premiair A.
Tydd Reserves, meanwhile, suffered a 4-2 home reverse against FC Peterborough Rovers in the Challenge Cup. Ben Gibbons and Jordi Henson got their goals.
In Division Three, Sutton Bridge lost a thriller 7-6 against Park Farm Pumas Reserves as Ben Partridge and Mark Garner both netted twice.
Division Four saw Holbeach Bank win 3-0 at Parkside and Whaplode Drove Reserves go down 7-1 to AFC Malborne.
