More appointments offer at GP surgeries

Patients in Lincolnshire are set to benefit from longer opening hours, including Saturdays, at their GP surgeries.
Launched last month, the Enhanced Access initiative sees practices open during the evening on weekdays and from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. NHS Lincolnshire says the new hours ‘aim to simplify the existing models of enhanced hours and access currently in place.’
According to the organisation, the new model will see routine GP appointments available at either the patient’s GP surgery, or another local location, on weekday evenings from 6.30pm to 8pm as well as on Saturdays.
Patients can book appointments by contacting their own GP practice and should be available for two weeks in advance, or on the day if there is availability. Appointments will be delivered by teams of medics, including GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
