Give gifts and make a child’s Christmas

It’s the time of year when we ask our readers to dig deep and help make Christmas very special for local children who may otherwise miss out.

The Spalding Voice has once again teamed up with Coun Harry Drury to launch our annual Give a Gift

Campaign and we are hoping to receive toys galore as we have in previous years.“Having founded the campaign 11 years ago I am extremely excited to be launching it again in time for Christmas,” said Harry Drury, a member of South Holland District Council.

“With the current cost of living crisis biting hard, more people will find themselves struggling this year and it’s even more important than ever that we help those in need.”

This year we also will be teaming up with Mark Le Sage, founder of Ella’s Project, to make the appeal even bigger and better.

Through Mark’s partnership with Lord’s Collectables, we will be able to accept monetary donations for the first time.

Editor Rachel Mayfield said: “The Voice team is delighted to be working with Harry and Mark to make Christmas special for young residents.”

The appeal helps ensure less fortunate children aged between three and 14 years old have a gift to open on December 25.

“We respectfully ask that the gifts are in new or ‘as new’ condition and we are unable to accept cuddly toys, make-up, toiletries or food and perishable items due to health and safety,” said Harry.

“The presents can be of any value to suit your budget,” he added.

Gifts will go to South Holland and Boston Child Services to be distributed in time for Christmas but if you know of any families in the South Holland or Boston area who might benefit from the campaign, email Rachel in confidence at [email protected] or write to Spalding and South Holland Voice, Office C, 1 Goodison Road, Lincs Gateway Business Park, PE12 6FY.

Collection points for your gifts will be announced shortly.
