Danny Clifton feels that Holbeach United are on the brink of finally getting a win this season – but admits that it won’t change their perilous plight.
The Tigers boss is hoping to see another encouraging performance this Saturday, with county rivals Deeping Rangers the visitors to Carter’s Park (3pm).
Last weekend’s results saw rock-bottom Holbeach fall 15 points from safety in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North, but Clifton admits that feels “irrelevant” to his side as the realisation of their impending relegation sinks in.
“It’d be nice to win a game,” joked the Holbeach boss. “But the reality is that the performances have been very good lately.
“We’ve not had much luck and the results are still bad. But these are young lads, I don’t want them to be disheartened by the results.
“Results elsewhere didn’t go our way last weekend but the truth is that they are irrelevant now. We know where we are and what is going to happen to us.
“The focus is now on retaining these players for the future, adding experience in the summer and working on moving forward.
“I am sure that, if we play like we have been, we’ll give Deeping a very good game.”
Tenth-placed Rangers will arrive at Carter’s Park on a run of five wins and a draw in their last seven games.
