V SPORT

Spalding RFC made a losing start in Midlands One East on Saturday as they went down 32-21 to rivals Belgrave at the Memorial Field.

Rob Lucas – who kicked a host of penalties – and Jeremy Darley both ran in tries for Town, who did lead 21-20 at one stage.

But Belgrave, promoted a champions from Spalding’s division last year, battled back in the closing stages to take the points.
