Four weeks of road closures around roundabout

Daytime resurfacing works to the Halmer Gate roundabout in Spalding will start on Monday August 9.

Lincolnshire County Council say the total programme of works is expected to last up to four weeks, Monday to Friday, subject to suitable weather. Weekend working may be used if required.

As part of the project, a daytime road closure will be in place from 8am to 4:30pm at various points of the roundabout, including:

·         Halmer Gate –from Exeter Drive to the roundabout

·         Queens Road – from Culpins Close to the roundabout

·         Low Road – from Low Fields Avenue to the roundabout

·         Albert Street – at the junction bell mouth only

The diversion route will be via C850 Halmer Gate-Church Street / B1173 Church Gate / A16-A1175 roundabout / A16-B1165 roundabout / C850 Low Road, and vice versa.

Local diversions will be in place for Queens Road and Albert Street.

Access for emergency vehicles and residents within the work extents will be maintained throughout the project.

Coun Richard Davies, Lincolnshire County Council’s executive member for highway, said: “As part of these works, we will be rebuilding sections of the Halmer Gate roundabout near Spalding that are deteriorating and in need of repair.

“We intend to do everything we can to minimise disruption, including carrying the works out in the day to avoid late night noise, and will be doing our very best to maintain access for nearby residents during the works.

“Once complete, these improvements will make travelling through Spalding safer and more comfortable for all road users.”
