LETTERS – Grass is only cut with a strimmer

In reply to the Rev Erica Crust’s letter and photo “The real churchyard, Deeping St Nicholas”, it was incorrect.

If she had looked to the left she may not have taken the other part of the churchyard, you see there are about 200 gravestones of local Deeping St Nicholas people which I am sorry to say look a mess only cut with a strimmer, leaving dead grass. It would be better to use a ride on mower.

The church did have one a few years ago, I suppose that is locked up.

People may wonder why I have such an interest in the village. It is because my wife and son are buried there and my wife’s family. Also many others I went to school with. I think 90 percent of the church are local people, most born in the village.

I agree with her about a walk to the churchyard but only to sit and think what a mess to the left of the church.

To the contractor, I must say, a job worth doing is to do it properly.

To the parish council member, take a look at the churchyard and look after it better.
