LETTERS – Plan ahead and book a slot

My wife and I have just returned to Holbeach after a pleasant few hours in Spalding.

We completed our booking at the recycling centre – the tip – where we were cheerfully greeted and helpfully directed by the excellent staff, as always.

We moved on to do our “weekly shop” before having a hearty lunch.

Had we not been booked in at the tip, we would not have shopped and lunched in Spalding.

Is it really too much to ask people to plan ahead and book their slot at the tip?

Do we really want to return to the “bad old days” of cars queuing on West Marsh Road with others trying to pull round the queue whilst juggernauts are thundering down on them from the other direction? I think not!

Can I remind councillors that they are elected by the whole electorate to represent all of us and many of us wish the booking system to remain, COVID or no COVID. We just don’t shout as loud.

It is absolute rubbish to say that the system before booking was easier, it definitely was not safer for the road user, no matter how big the vehicle.
