Jeff set for 100 song challenge

A Pinchbeck opera singer is to sing 100 songs on his doorstep in memory of both his mother-in-law and Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Jeff Woods, also known as Pavanotti, will on Sunday stand outside his Mountbatten Avenue home and belt out the songs to raise money for both Dementia UK and the bid to raise money to improve Pinchbeck’s parks.

He was inspired by the organisation set up around veteran Sir Tom’s plea for people to fundraise for a charity of their choice by doing something 100 times.

For Jeff that means 100 songs and he’s splitting the fundraising between the push to improve the parks and a dementia charity after his wife Jacqui’s mum Maureen Dennis was diagnosed with the condition before her passing in March.

“She was a lovely lady who was from Moulton Chapel,” said Jeff. “There was so much response from when we announced her passing, which shows how well loved she was, and that’s why we wanted to do something for her.

“Dementia is a devastating and horrible condition.

“We’re splitting money raised with the Pinchbeck appeal.”

Jeff is hoping to start performing around 11.30am and he’s set to sing in a host of styles, not just opera, as well as songs in six or seven different languages.

He’ll also be open to requests for those that donate.

And all his neighbours are set to be chipping in and hosting stalls to raise even more money.

“I have amazing neighbours,” Jeff continued. “A couple of times during lockdown we’ve had socially distanced coffees on all our drives.

“We’ve got a great community atmosphere.

“We’ll still be ensuring we’re keeping socially distant but we do hope people comedown and are able to enjoy it.”

You can donate to Jeff through the Facebook page here while donations on the day will go to the appeal for Pinchbeck’s parks.
