Dog show gets tails wagging

Dog lovers came from across the country to Whaplode Drove on Saturday.

The East Anglian Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club held its first dog show since restrictions were lifted at the Elizabethan Centre in the village.

And competitors came from as far afield as Wales for the event which boasted 83 entrants.

Show manager Martin Johnson said: “It went absolutely to plan.

“It’s been 15 months since there’s been any sort of dog show so I think everybody was a bit apprehensive, but it was really exciting and went well.

“Normally we’d expect 50 to 60 dogs at a show, but there was over 80. It was a fun packed day.

“The Elizabethan Centre was absolutely fantastic and really went out of their way to help. Hopefully we reciprocated that with how the event was run.”
