Sisters have gem of an idea

Two sisters have been making the most of lockdown and launched a new jewellery business.

Alex and Laura are from Spalding and have created Olive&Wallis – an online outlet for their own ranges.

“Lots of our inspiration comes from pieces that have been handed down through our family. Keepsakes, family heirlooms and modern antiques,” said Laura Dighton who lives in Moulton Chapel. Her sister Alex now lives in Northamptonshire.

“We started making jewellery in lockdown having wanted to do something together for a long time. We were putting it off until our children were at school, but I guess lockdown left us feeling impatient,” she added.

The website was started in April and it has been all systems go since then.

“We are both fairly sentimental when it comes to certain items of jewellery that we wear,” added Laura, pictured with Alex.

“We are so excited to be starting out together. We hope we can build a foundation that will see our small business produce affordable heirloom pieces,” she said.

Each piece is hand made and the collection has individually named statement and everyday wear.
