Tuck shops give charity boosts

Pupils at a Spalding primary school have raised more than £2,000 for charity through their tuck shops.

Children at St John the Baptist Primary School have chosen to support four charities that are special to them and cheques have been given to The Lily Foundation (£500), The British Heart Foundation (£300), Macmillan Cancer Support (£500) and Spalding Rotary Club (£200).

New headteacher Clare Robinson said: “In the short amount of time that I have been here, I have been amazed at how the school’s values are demonstrated daily by everyone within our community, in this instance; generosity, service and compassion.

“This is reflected in the generous sums of money that have been donated by our families in the last academic year.

“This money, which was raised from our termly tuck shops, organised by our School Council, is now being donated to a number of charities, which have been chosen for reasons very close to our hearts.

“We hope that this money goes on to support the amazing work that these charities are doing, particularly in the difficult times that we are currently facing.”
