Springfields confirmed as COVID-19 vaccine site as local GPs also ready to start jabs

Springfields has been confirmed as a new COVID-19 vaccine site as a number of local GP surgeries have also detailed they’re set to start vaccinating.

Springfields has been confirmed alongside five new centres to provide the vaccine ‘by the end of this week’.

It is the first venue in South Holland to be announced.

An NHS spokesman said: “The launch of these further five sites is a significant milestone for Lincolnshire.

“The next steps for the county’s NHS is to roll out the programme further through two large vaccination sites and a roving service across the county.

“The NHS will continue to keep the public updated as these further sites and vaccination services become available.

“The vaccination services in Lincolnshire, as in the rest of the country, are focused on delivering the vaccines to the key priority groups (residents in a care home for older adults and their carers, those aged 70 and over, frontline health and social care workers and the clinically extremely vulnerable) to ensure that we are able to meet the targets set by the government.”

Member of the public will be contacted when it’s their turn and are urged not to contact the NHS to enquire about vaccines.

The five new sites in Lincolnshire are

  • The Storehouse, Skegness
  • Lincolnshire Showground, Lincoln
  • Springfields, Spalding
  • John Coupland Hospital, Gainsborough
  • Marisco Medical Practice, Mablethorpe

Meanwhile local GP surgeries are gearing up to deliver the vaccine.

Munro Medical Centre in Spalding put a statement out on social media saying: “Good News! We have now received communication that we will receive our first batch of covid 19 vaccinations at the end of this week, although this is only a small amount. We shall be contacting patients over the next few days who qualify for this first batch according to the government guidelines.

“Please do not contact the practice; we will make contact with you. We will be receiving further deliveries in the forthcoming weeks and as soon as we have a vaccine for you we will contact you directly.

“Thank you for your co operation and understanding. PLEASE NOTE: This vaccine is not available privately – the vaccine is being rolled out free to people via the NHS. You should never be asked to pay for the vaccine.”

Gosberton Medical Centre posted: “We are pleased to inform that our COVID-19 vaccination program will start next week – there is no need to call the surgery.”

A new COVID-19 testing site has also been set up at the Fun Farm in Weston.

The new site went live on Sunday at the High Road venue.

Fun Farm owner Karen Slator said she offered the premises for use last year and that she understands the site will be in place until Wednesday.

The Voice contacted the NHS for more details on the new testing site but have not had a responce.
