A motorist who decided to go to a drive through McDonald’s and was involved in a minor collision was nearly three times the drink-drive limit.
The 51-year-old decided to drive out for a takeaway and was involved in a minor collision which resulted in police being called because he smelt of alcohol.
Sean Jason Hoyles, of Beccelm Drive, Crowland admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.
Prosecuting, Stacey Mills said Hoyles was involved in a minor collision in his Ford Focus on May 23 when he was queuing for a meal at McDonalds but drove off.
She said he stopped further up the road and exchanged details with the other driver, but because he smelt of alcohol the police were informed and he was seen when he got to his home.
She told the court he was arrested after a positive breath test and gave a reading of 101 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath, the legal limit being 35.
Daven Naghen, mitigating, said Hoyles accepted he was drinking too much at weekends at the time and had made a poor ‘error of judgement’ in driving out for a takeaway meal.
He was ordered to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work for the community and to pay a total of £170 in court costs and charges.
He was banned from driving for 20 months but was offered the drink drivers rehabilitation course, which will reduce the period of the ban by 20 weeks.
