National TV cameras came to Spalding this week as the town prepares to enter the highest tier of restrictions.
ITV’s Good Morning Britain broadcast from the town centre to highlight the inequality of putting an area with low coronavirus transmission into the most severe Tier 3.
South Holland District Council leader Lord Gary Porter was interviewed along with Karen Slator, who runs the Fun Farm soft play centre.
“We were in tier one before lockdown and now we have come out with numbers going down.
“It’s not fair on our businesses and people who have done the right thing,” said Lord Porter.
The popular Fun Farm at Weston will have to remain closed while the county is in Tier 3.
Speaking about her customers, Karen said: “It’s devastating for them because they rely on coming here for a play, to let off some steam. A lot of them are very upset,” she told the GMB cameras.
As the rest of the country comes out of lockdown, most are heading into Tier 2, including neighbouring Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, but Lincolnshire remains in the highest tier with restrictions affecting businesses around the county.
Pubs, cafes and restaurants will be among the worst hit as they can only operate a takeaway or delivery service while in the tier.
