A charity shop manager is gearing up for a 100-mile cycle ride to raise money to help overcome world poverty.
Gary Peatling, who is manager at the Oxfam shop in Spalding will join 70 riders from the charity in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100.
The ride will involve more than 20,000 cyclists and takes place on August 10.
Volunteers in the Spalding shop have this week been helping Gary to reach the minimum fundraising target of £500 by clocking up the miles on a static bike in store.
But Gary himself will get down the serious stuff with a training ride through the hills near Stamford this weekend.
He will start and finish at Gibbons Cycle and Sports shop in Winsover Road, and is hoping as many people as possible get behind him to offer their support.
He said: “People can help encourage me on this vital preparation for tackling Box Hill, which featured in the 2012 London Olympic cycling events by their sponsorship or just buying a cool drink for a donation at the start line.”
