Holbeach band plays its way to £1,000 donation

chosen charity 2014-bHolbeach Town Band were delighted to be presented with a cheque for £1,000 from the Chosen Charity Shop in Holbeach towards their fundraising for a new bandroom.

By way of thanks, members of the senior band were joined by members from the training band to play a short concert outside the shop on Saturday afternoon.

During the concert musical director Mel Hopkin was presented with the cheque and the band had a guest conductor from the Chosen Charity.

The band also has another reason to smile after three young players enjoyed success with their ABRSM Music Grades.

Thomas Judd-Cooper passed Grade 4 on the cornet with distinction; Hannah Palmer passed Grade 4 on the flugel horn with distinction and Jimmy Hammond passed Grade 4 on the baritone with merit.

The band has a 100 per cent success rate in the music grades.
