LETTERS – Time will tell if measures are working

May I thank Sir John Hayes for his letter in reply to my earlier correspondence and also for the details of government action to alleviate poverty.

Time will tell as to whether or not these measures are working but as long as food banks exist it must be said that they are not.

Also under the current government there does not appear to have been any significant improvements to poverty levels.

In the same edition are several letters referring to governmental policy and one, Mr Beale, writes that the government has to deal with a very difficult situation and on that point I am sure that no-one will disagree.

He goes on to say, inter alia, that now is not the time for spiteful criticism. I entirely agree with him but for the fact we have a government of such stupendous incompetence.

A government run by fanatical ideologues of very limited ability backed up by the compliant yes men of the back benches, none of whom seem capable of seeing beyond our departure from the European Union.

One only has to watch the spectacle of questions being put to the front bench in the House of Commons or indeed noting the current fiasco at No. 10 Downing Street.
