Amy looks to go the distance

Disney songs are helping a Spalding hairdresser raise money for charity by running for 50 miles during the second lockdown.

Hairdresser Amy Harris spent the first lockdown taking part in the couch to 5K challenge.

Now she’s literally taking the running a whole lot further and is looking to amass a combined 50 miles during the current lockdown.

“I am a freelance hairdresser, so I have been forced to stop working during both lockdowns and wanted to do something positive and to inspire others,” she said. “It’s important we give ourselves goals in life and strive to do good. I want to eventually do the London Marathon.”

Amy’s already run more than the equivalent of a half marathon, 13.5 miles in her quest.

And she’s raising money for Dementia UK on the way.

“I have witnessed my grandparents and friends suffer with dementia,” Amy continued. “It needs more support and understanding.”

She’s being supported by husband Simon and eight-year-old son Jake.

And it’s Disney songs that are providing her inspiration.

“It reminds me of my childhood and keeps my motivation,“ Amy said.
