Police have issued a warning over a spate of thefts of GPS equipment from farmers in South Holland.
They include the taking of such systems from a farm in Donington overnight on Tuesday, August 8.
Members of the Farmwatch community have been urged to be vigilant.
A message from Colin Abbotts, PCSO for Spalding Rural North, states: “Can all Farmwatch members please ensure that those that have GPS systems fitted to their vehicles secure them at cease work.”
South Holland Police said in social media posts: “Thefts of GPS systems used in agricultural vehicles continue. This has a huge impact on farmers at the busiest time of year.
“If you have any information on this, or any other rural crime, please call 101 or email [email protected]”
The force also shared guidelines from the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) through its social media channels on tips to curb rural crime.
A spokesman for the NFU said: “Although the battle of rural crime is spread across several fronts, taking precautionary measures is vital in its prevention.
“By pro actively working together, rural communities can play a key role in ensuring farmers are able to continue to work effectively.”
