Temporary 30mph limit in Sutton Bridge after accident

sutton bridgeA temporary 30mph speed limit has been put in place close to Sutton Bridge’s Cross Keys swing bridge after a diesel spill eroded a section of the road.

The limit was put in operation following a collision between a car and a motorcycle in the area on Tuesday.

It is believed a pool of diesel may have leaked from a vehicle as it waited in a queue of traffic following the accident, softening the road surface and leading to an uneven patch.

Lincolnshire County Council highways department will now use high-tech equipment to assess the depth of the damage before deciding on what repairs are necessary.

The 30mph section is between the bridge and the Norfolk border and will stay in place until repairs are made.
