Firm creating 300 more jobs

A Spalding firm is taking on 300 more people, including some of those being made redundant elsewhere.

Food firm Gousto says it’s seen a big lockdown boost for its services ahead of it opening a second fulfilment centre soon.

A spokesman for the firm, said: “Since lockdown began and demand for recipe boxes jumped significantly, Gousto accelerated its recruitment plans specifically for operations at the Spalding site, allowing the recipe box to deliver meals to more homes than ever before.

“Now, in light of factory closures in the area, Gousto has launched a recruitment strategy to give local workers, recently out of a job, the first chance to interview for and fill needed positions.

“The key roles to be filled include Operative, Replenishment Operative and Production Manager.

“Gousto is working with local businesses, closing their factories, to offer recently redundant staff an opportunity to get back into work quickly and easily.”

Following the announcement that Addo Food Group will be closing its Spalding bakery later this year, in order to optimise its manufacturing output within its five remaining UK sites, Gousto has interviewed many of their skilled employees who were previously based at the site, for open positions.

Timo Boldt, CEO and Founder of Gousto says: “These are such challenging times, both for businesses and families. With the recipe box industry seeing an incline, we can use this position to support local workers and give them a new opportunity for longterm work.

“At the same time, we are building up our workforce and significantly increasing our capacity, as we continue on our mission to become the UK’s most-loved way to eat dinner.”

Samantha Hart, group HR director at Addo Food Group said: “We have dedicated and loyal staff and we want to support them in any way we can, which means that working with Gousto is a natural choice for us.  This has given our colleagues at Spalding bakery who may be facing uncertainty another route to employment, and we are pleased that so many of them have already been able to secure new roles.”
