Staff are cream of the crop

Care home staff were treated to some delicious cakes thanks to the daughter of one of the residents they look after last week.

Trudy Roberts organised the donation to the staff who look after her dad Tony Skillington (83) on the dementia ward of Cedar Falls Care Home in Spalding.

As reported in last week’s issue of The Voice, staff at the care home run by Tanglewood have taken to videos to help keep the residents in touch with relatives and friends including organising a sing-song of We’ll Meet Again.

And as a thank you Trudy brought the staff cream cakes from Holme Lea Bakery in Pinchbeck.

Trudy, who lives in Pennygate, said: “I’ve not seen dad in five weeks of lockdown and I wondered what could I do as a morale boost for the staff as they have been working tirelessly, sending us cards to let us know our loved ones are well, and also video links.

“I like to support local business and I thought cream cakes would be a great treat.

“Every staff member at Cedar Falls is amazing and one big happy family, and they all had a special tea break. As a family we cannot thank them enough. They are stars, each and every one, working in difficult situations whilst also following strict health and safety procedures.

“Many thanks also to Holme Lea at Pinchbeck.”
