Helping hundreds in villages

Those who have helped support rural villagers during the COVID-19 crisis have been thanked by a local councillor.

The Street Ambassadors have been helping run errands for people in Moulton, Moulton Chapel, Moulton Seas End, Weston, Weston Hills and Cowbit.

District councillor Andrew Woolf helped organise the volunteers who currently number 87 and who have been taking on a host of jobs, including picking up and dropping off food as well as collecting medicine.

He says the amount of jobs they’ve done for some of the vulnerable villagers is in the hundreds.

“The whole Street Ambassadors idea is going really well,” Coun Woolf continued. “It’s great to see how people have come together to help others and something we have put in place is working so well.

“We’ve done all sorts including shopping for people, knocking on doors to make sure people are ok and picking up essential medical supplies.

“We’ve had fantastic support from local businesses including food producers. Supporting local food banks has also been important.

“We’re delighted to cover an area between Holbeach and Spalding and villages that otherwise might not be served.

“I can’t thank everyone who has been involved enough.”
