The number of fly-tips reported to South Holland District Council reduced significantly recently towards the end of last year, it’s been claimed.
Coun Tracey Carter told a meeting of its Cabinet last week that 135 fly-tips were reported in South Holland between October and December, down 88 from the same time the previous year.
The average time of five days to clear a reported fly-tip exactly matched the council’s target but was slightly slower than the of 4.2 days to collect a fly-tip over the same time span the previous year.
Coun Carter said: “There has been a significant reduction in the number of fly-tips reported within the district.
“This reduction clearly demonstrates that the council’s enforcement and education strategies along with a number of high profile social media campaigns are proving successful.
“In addition the average time to remove a fly-tip was five days, again demonstrating the excellent level of services for South Holland residents.”
