Make sure you meet health guidelines

A ‘meals on wheels’ service that delivers a thousand meals a day in Lincolnshire is urging people to be careful when delivering to others.

Quadring based A Country Kitchen has been running for 12 years and is endorsed by Lincolnshire County Council.

Employing eight staff driving five vans, manager Kelly Newman says she’s concerned about plans she’s heard of others looking to deliver meals to those in self-isolation for the next few weeks.

“I understand that people need to diversify and also help others,” she said. “My worry is that people will not practice as would meet environmental health guidelines which could put the person that’s eating the meal in dangers.

“You need to keep cooked meals at certain temperatures and we have special vans to do that.

“You also can’t just serve them on plates and leave it on their doorstep for them to heat up again. Competition is healthy, but people need to ensure what they’re serving for people is safe.”
