Nine more South Holland residents have each been awarded £100 cash for demonstrating good recycling habits.

That takes the total number of £100 winners since the district council’s Green Bag Lottery began to 26.
The scheme rewards residents who correctly present green bags of recycling for at least three weeks of each four-week period. Ten households are secretly selected to take part each time.

The winners in the latest round included:

  • Michael and Lorna Durrant, Whaplode
  • Edmund Smith, Spalding
  • Mr and Mrs Bullock, Fleet Hargate
  • Mr Harker, Spalding
  • Andrew Gregg and Natasha Jones, Lutton Marsh
  • Mrs Lilley, Holbeach St Johns
  • Mrs J D Batterham, Crowland

All the winners will go on to have a chance of winning a further £1,000.

District council engagement and monitoring officer Samantha Gibbons said: “The letters for the grand prize draw will be going out this week.
“To enter, residents will have to complete a short recycling quiz. If they pass they go into the draw which will then be announced on Tulip Radio.”

The scheme, which is funded by a grant from the government’s Department of Communities and Local Government’s Weekly Collections Support Scheme, began in February and will last for at least a year.
