£38,200 grant to help forge, Moulton Mill and pumping museum work more closely

Three of South Holland’s heritage attractions have been awarded £38,200 to explore ways to work more closely together.

Chain Bridge Forge, in High Street, Spalding; Moulton Mill and Pinchbeck Pumping Museum have been awarded the grant from Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

It will allow leaders of the sites to explore opportunities to cut costs, increase efficiently and for joint marketing.

Geoff Taylor, of Chain Bridge Forge, said: “We’re hoping to find ways to be more efficient, save a little bit of money and run better.
“It’s important to continually look for new ideas to encourage people to come back and support you.”

The grant will allow consideration of a vast array of joint or shared resources.

Investigations will include exploring possible ways to share governance, management and volunteer recruitment and training arrangements.
In addition it will enable reviews of customer experiences and how they can be improved, ways to reduce duplication and make each site sustainable.

There will be a chance to look at how the sites are marketed and further support them to be self-funding.

Charity leaders have taken issue with Gardman garden products supplier for a range of tools branded ‘Moulton Mill’.
The mill charity has posted a notice on its website to say the range is not associated with it.
A Gardman spokesman said they are seeking to speak with the charity over the issue.
