More than £33,000 has been awarded by Lincolnshire County Council from the Government’s Controlling Migration Fund for a “Grow and Share” allotment project in Spalding.
The £33,699 project will work with migrant families to support integration in the community by learning to grow their own fruit and vegetables on a shared allotment site, with support centred on language, skills and working together in a healthy, productive way, the council said. Recipes and ideas will be shared to produce a community ‘Grow It and Cook
It’ book that celebrates cultural richness. The project is hoped to “develop learning and understanding of different cultures and promote interaction, positive community cohesion and integration”.
The Controlling Migration Fund was announced in 2016 and the latest allocation of £28m across the country supports 123 projects in total.
