Plans for a new floodlit ‘PlayZone’ in Sutton Bridge have been submitted.
Sutton Bridge Memorial Park is looking to enhance the facilities with the addition being funded by the Football Foundation charity.
The gated court would be able to host small sided football, basketball and netball.
“The design will prioritise inclusivity, ensuring that the area is accessible to people of all ages and abilities, aligning with Sutton Bridge Parish Council’s broader goals of promoting active lifestyles and enhancing green spaces for public use,” documents submitted with the report state.
It will have up to four metre high secure fencing and lighting to ensure it could be used during evenings.
The proposed opening hours are from 8am to 10pm every day. The facility would be gated with the lights only on when the facility has been booked for use.
The documents submitted with the application say it would lead to a loss of grass land, but state ‘this is negligible compared to the additional facility that will be provided, in terms of usefulness, attractiveness and quality.
They also state nine clubs ‘have unmet demand for floodlit, all-weather pitches’.
It continues: “The proposed PlayZone in Sutton Bridge Memorial Field represents a significant enhancement to the local community’s recreational facilities.
“By addressing the identified opportunities and constraints, the project aims to create a sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant space that will benefit the Sutton Bridge area and its surrounding residents for years to come.”
