Get applications in for funding pot

Organisations are being invited to apply for the latest GRASSroots grants which recently boosted Moulton Mill by £5,840.

It was able to get replacement windows, heaters and a coffee machine as a result of the donation.

The UK Shared and Rural England Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) programme and its GRASSroots initiative is government cash initiated to replace EU grants after Brexit which is distributed locally by South Holland District Council.

A spokesman for the authority said: “Grants of up to £24,999 are available to enable for projects with an aim to strengthen the social fabric of communities, build pride in place by improving local community facilities, creating opportunities to bringing people together to create social connections that will grow and thrive.”

Moulton Mill treasurer Alan Lambert said that this type of funding is ‘essential’ for the mill to survive.

“It’s a Grade I listed building and we want to keep it going forever so we do as much as we can to keep it alive and we enjoying it,” he said. “The idea is to encourage families and young children to come in and to keep them interested as they are our future.

“Since we’ve had the new coffee machine and the new heaters in particular, we’ve noticed that it’s a better visiting experience.

“Everything goes towards the general running of the place which is a huge positive for us.

“We found applying for the GRASSroots grant quite straightforward and while I know seeing a lot of forms can be daunting for others, but my advice would be to fill in what you can as the team at LCF are great at helping you with anything you don’t know about.”

Applications close on Monday, June 30 with more details available at https://lincolnshirecf.co.uk/grants/ukspf/

There’s also been £299,582 awarded to organisations supported by the UKSPF main fund in previous years.

They include funding to be matched by the Football Foundation and Sutton Bridge Parish Council for a new ‘Playzone’ in that town.

There’s also money to promote the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ) and Lincolnshire’s Chamber of Commerce to put on events and encourage businesses to invest in South Holland.

Others to get the funding are Active Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service, the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership’s Pride In Place volunteering initative and for training schemes provided by Steadfast Training, Boston College and University of Lincoln.
